So many large home improvement projects start with pouring concrete.
Building a new garage? It will be sitting on a concrete slab.
Building a new patio or outdoor entertainment area? Chances are at least part of it will be concrete.
Adding an in-ground pool? It will likely have a concrete deck.
At Alliance Inc., we know how important having a well-poured concrete slab can be to your renovation project. Whether it be your standard driveway or sidewalk pour or stamped or decorative concrete for a patio or walkway, we will work with you to make sure the concrete fits the specifications and design you are looking for.
What is the process for pouring a new concrete driveway or other slab?
Consultation: We meet with you discuss the scope of the project, as well as all of your options. Once a decision has been made, we work with you to establish a work date that fits your schedule.
Subgrade Preparation: If there was a previous slab and the existing foundation is adequate, we will grade and compact it for optimal strength. If not, new aggregate will be placed and compacted.
Setting the Forms: Forms will be placed around the edges with a grid-reinforcing steel throughout, designed to provide longevity to the concrete.
Pour and Level: Our concrete mix will include additives to further strengthen the mix. The concrete is poured into the forms and then our crew levels the pour — this is called “screeding.”
Finishing: As concrete sets quickly, the finishing of it takes place immediately using a combination of power and/or hand tools.
Curing: After the concrete is finished, we use a cure agent on the surface, which will prevent water loss for the next month. The concrete will take about 7 days to cure before it can be used. We also recommend keeping people and pets off the surface for several hours after we’ve left the site.
