‍What is Stamped Concrete?

Although concrete is often used for structural applications, its flexibility makes it ideal for many decorative purposes.

Stamping, one of the most common techniques when using concrete as a decorative function, replicates the look of natural stone by stamping the design on poured concrete.

There are a variety of different designs and colors that you can use. This is a more affordable option than natural stone pavers for those who want a similar look.

Where Can I Use Stamped Concrete?

Stamped concrete is versatile. You can use it for driveways, patios, courtyards, front entrances, and walkways.

Due to the sealer that you must apply, it can be slippery when wet and has less traction than brushed concrete. Therefore it may not be the ideal choice for around a swimming pool.

However, it is possible to add a nonslip additive to the sealer and give more traction to the surface.

Is Stamped Concrete Hard to Maintain?

It’s typically recommended to seal stamped concrete at least twice a year. This will help prevent color fading and protect it from the elements.

Other than that, however, it’s a low-maintenance option. Sweeping the surface and hosing it off when necessary will keep it clean.

Properly installed stamped concrete will last as long as regular concrete and most certainly longer than standard pavers.

One drawback of using pavers is a result of the spaces between them. Pavers are susceptible to weeds growing through the cracks between the individual paver stones.

Weeds will not grow through the cracks of stamped concrete, however, because there are no cracks. They are simply part of the imprinted design of the continuous surface.

What Design Options are Available?

From a variety of different pigment colors of concrete to stamp selections of textured, brick, herringbone or even wood, the options are endless to match your property’s structural design.

Our team can work with you to pick the right color and design to match your home.
